Teton County has been named among eight counties that are eligible for USDA disaster assistance as a result of the freeze that occurred last September. The primary counties named for the assistance were Big Horn and Park Counties, but since Teton County is adjacent Park County, it too is eligible for assistance. The aid is based on losses of normal agricultural production or normal animal production. To qualify, the farmer or rancher must have suffered at least a 30% loss in these areas. Deadline for applying for the aid from the Farm Service Agency of the US Department of Agriculture is August 17th.
