Governor Mead Hails Vertical Harvest Project

by Jackson Hole. Media

Mead GroundbreakingRepresentatives of Jackson’s non-profit Vertical Harvest and Community Entry Services were flanked Friday by Wyoming Governor Matt Mead, Wyoming Business Council Chair Shawn Reese and Jackson Mayor Mark Barron for the official ground-breaking ceremony for a three-story, 13,500 square-foot hydroponic green house adjacent the town’s parking garage. Mead told the crowd that making this project particularly attractive were its creation of jobs for developmentally disabled adults who traditionally see nearly an 80% jobless rate, and its ability to serve as a multiplier for the local economy, not only because of the creation of jobs, but the production of produce for the community. The facility is set to be completed and open by next fall.
