Strange Fireball in Western Skies Explained

A strange sight last night in the sky that prompted numerous reports of a fireball turned out to be quite explainable.

KSL.com reports the slow-moving “fireball” that arced through the sky just before 11 PM Monday was actually part of a Chinese rocket.

The KSL website says that Patrick Wiggins, Solar System Ambassador to Utah for NASA/JPL , concluded that the rocket was one used by the Chinese to launch a satellite in December of 2014.

The sighting was reported to the meteor tracking website www.amsmeteor.org from nearly all western states.
