Election Season Begins

by Jackson Hole. Media

The window for filing for local elected office opens today and it’s anybody’s guess as to who might run.

We do know that Mayor Flitner will seek reelection and she will face a few competitors in the likes of Stephen McDonald and Mark Obringer who is a former councilman and runs the business incubator Imagine Jackson.

Hailey Morton, the youngest person ever elected to Jackson’s Town Council will run again but there is no official announcement from Councilman Jim Stanford, whose term is up at this election.

On the county side, Chairwoman Barb Allen has said she is stepping down at the end of her term and Commissioner Natalia Macker has announced that she will seek another term.

Yesterday, local businessman Mike Gierau announced that we will run for District 16’s seat at the Wyoming Statehouse. That seat is being vacated by 3-term Representative Ruth Anne Petroff who announce on Tuesday that she would not run for the position this year.

Representative Andy Schwartz will run to return to Cheyenne and again serve District 23 and District 22 Representative Marti Halverson said on Monday that she would run again.

The Filing period will end on May 27 at 5PM.
