Local Leaders Look At Budgets

by Jackson Hole. Media

Town of Jackson officials are close to budget approval deadlines and the will make a presentation to the Town Council on Wednesday morning.

The proposed budget for fiscal year 2016-2017 shows total spending including capital projects of 51 million dollars. The general operating portion of that is about 20 million.

Revenue projections are near 19 million with almost 13 million of the total coming from sales tax. The town forecast sales tax collections over last year to increase by 3.75%.

Funds from the lodging tax will be close to 900,000.00. That tax gives 40% of its total monies to the town and to Teton County to be used for visitor impacts and is generally spent on START bus operations and pathways.

The town also collects a portion of lottery sales but it amounts to a mere 45,000.00.

The numbers are in draft form and may change as the town council considers increased commuter bus routes and other items.

The Wednesday meeting will be at 9 at town hall.
