The 12th annual Shirley’s Heart Run, a fundraiser for the St. John’s Hospital Foundation Heart Fund, will take place on Saturday, June 18 at 9:00 am. This 5K run or walk starts and ends at a new location: the R Park in Wilson, at 4270 River Springs Drive.
The out-and-back course follows the pathway from R Park to the Wilson pedestrian bridge, crosses the Snake River to the Emily’s Pond Levee trail (also known as the dike), and continues along the east shore of the Snake River.
According to Foundation president John Goettler, “This important community event is hosted each year in memory of Shirley Kyle, who died suddenly from a heart attack in 2005. Shirley’s Heart Run raises awareness of the importance of early detection of the signs of heart disease. The Heart Fund has allowed us to support patients, purchase essential medical equipment, and provide heart-related programs.”
Starts & Ends at R Park
The entry fee of $25 includes a t-shirt (for the first 100 registrants), a raffle ticket for numerous prizes donated by local businesses, and more. Breakfast burritos and beverages from Snake River Brew Pub will be provided for participants and spectators.
