START Expands Commuter Routes

by Jackson Hole. Media

A kick-off event to recognize the new START Bus commuter routes linking Teton Valley and Jackson was held last week.

“Our communities are tied together, and we are fortunate to be surrounded by smart, caring leaders,” said Mayor Sara Flitner.  “This is a first big step, a formal collaboration, aimed at safety and congestion relief.    Together, we will address our transportation and housing challenges.”

The added service will increase the total number of bus runs connecting Teton Valley to Jackson from 2 to 3 each weekday.   This bus will depart the Driggs Community Center on weekdays at 6:00am and then depart Jackson at 4:30pm to Teton Valley.  “We are very pleased to be able to offer an additional service to Teton Valley,” stated Darren Brugmann, START Bus Director.  “The commuter run is a priority of the START Board and critical to this community.”   The added route will officially begin on Tuesday, May 31st.

START will now have buses departing Driggs at 6:00am, 6:35am and 7:15am each weekday as well as buses leaving Jackson heading to Driggs departing at 3:45pm, 4:30pm and 5:10pm.   There will be various stops along the way in Jackson, Wilson, Victor and Driggs.   For a complete listing of pick-up and drop-off locations please consult the START Bus website (www.startbus.com).

“The City of Driggs recognizes that our regional economy spans two states and that START service is a critical link for both of our communities,” said Driggs Mayor Hyrum Johnson. “We appreciate the addition of a third route serving the needs of commuters, but recognize that this is only a first step.  Clearly the demand for additional routes exists today, and will only grow in the future, and we look forward to working with START and other area transit programs to satisfy growing needs.”
