Tepe Procession Saturday

by Jackson Hole. Media

Captain Mike Tepe will be honored on Saturday, October 14, 2017 with a memorial procession from Firehouse 6 on Moose-Wilson Road to the Jackson Hole Conference Center where a celebration of the life and service of Captain Tepe will be held.

The memorial procession will begin at approximately 2:00pm from Firehouse 6, and will end at approximately 3:00pm after all vehicles have arrived near the Conference Center. Approximately 50 to 70 fire apparatus, law enforcement, and first responder vehicles are expected to be a part of the procession, which will follow Moose-Wilson Road south to Highway 22, then east on Broadway Avenue to Scott Lane (a map is included in the PDF available below).

Members of the public utilizing these roads should expect delays for up to 90 minutes, as all the vehicles involved will proceed together, with law enforcement vehicles providing roadway escort and intersection monitoring and closure.

In addition to traffic delays associated with the procession, members of the public should be aware that Alpine Lane will be closed from Scott Lane to Powderhorn Lane in order to park all the vehicles from the procession.

START bus will be closing the bus stops on Scott Lane and the temporary stops on Alpine Lane from 12:00pm to 7:00pm to accommodate the procession. This will affect the 20 Green Line and the Town Shuttle 1 & 2. START riders should use either of the stops adjacent to the Teton County Library on Snow King Avenue or the stops on Buffalo Way adjacent to Albertson’s.

Upon conclusion of the ceremony, Alpine Lane will be reopened once all vehicles have vacated.

Captain Tepe joined Jackson Hole Fire/EMS as a volunteer in 2006, and during his career he served with tremendous dedication and valor. Due to the type of cancer that Captain Tepe faced, his death is considered an “In the Line of Duty Death” by the State of Wyoming.

Members of the public are asked not to drive or enter a vehicle in the procession, however, to show support and respect for Captain Tepe and his family, they are encouraged to line the procession route if desired.

In lieu of flowers, donations for Captain Tepe’s children’s college expenses can be made at the Bank of Jackson Hole to the “Mike Tepe College Fund”.
