Former Teton County Commissioner and current Wyoming Senator Leland Christensen will be on the ballot for the Wyoming Secretary of State’s office this year.
Christensen, of Alta, will officially announce his run when the State Legislature ends its session next month.
Christensen served as a commissioner for Teton County until he replaced Grant Larsen in 2010 as the District 17 State Senator.
He ran unopposed in 2014 and, in 2016, made a bid for the US House of Representative seat vacated by Cynthia Lummis. That seat is now held by Liz Cheney.
Christensen is the second candidate to announce interest in the statewide office along with Democrat Jim Byrd of Cheyenne.
Christensen worked as a law enforcement officer and as an auctioneer. He also served in the National Guard and with the 19th Special Forces Group in the U.S. Army, which he did for 15 years.
