(Wilson, Wyoming) Tuesday, June 12th ¾ Rendezvous Park (R Park), a program of the Jackson Hole Land Trust, is excited to host the 5th Annual Summer Solstice Celebration on Thursday, June 21st, 5-8pm. We invite the community to celebrate the longest day of the year at the park with great food, art, and live music by Benyaro with Bo Elledge. This year’s program features activities that celebrate the nature, history, and wildlife of R Park, including the reveal of a new permanent sculpture named, ‘Flow’. The event kicks off at 5:00 PM and will go until 8:00 PM. Complimentary beverages for all ages will be available including beer from Roadhouse Brewing, wine from The Liquor Store, and 2$ tasty tacos by Streetfood JH.
“Our Annual Solstice Celebration marks the official start of summer with a unique opportunity to bring the whole community together and experience all that their local, non-profit run park has to offer,” said Laurie Andrews, President of the Jackson Hole Land Trust. “We are also thrilled to reveal, “Flow” by Thea Alvin, made possible through a partnership with JH Public Art. We don’t want to ruin the surprise but the new installation was inspired by all the movements nature offers at R Park.”
This summer’s R Park Junior Ranger activities were revamped with local partners. Kids can complete the activities to “certify” them as Rangers. Successful Junior Rangers will visit each station listed on a new interactive map to receive a hole punch to signify their participation. If each station is visited, the map can be redeemed for an R Park Junior Ranger prize. Families are invited to:
- Identify and draw R Park’s Native Plants with the Teton Conservation District
- Learn about and identify R Park’s Wildlife with Wyoming Game and Fish
- Summit the R Park Knoll and learn mapping techniques with Teton Science Schools
- Find and identify R Park’s friend, ‘Harriot’
- Learn about R Park’s history and make a wish with the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum
- Find and explore ‘Flow’ with Jackson Hole Public Art
In addition, Erwin Valasquez will be hosting two free bilingual yoga classes at 6:00PM & 7:00PM. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own mats. R Park is located at the intersection of Highway 22 and the Teton-Village Road (4270 River Springs Drive, Wilson). Parking will be available at Stilson lot, and participants are encouraged to use alternative forms of transportation to attend, such as, START Bus or the community pathways.
Adult volunteers are always needed. If you would like to volunteer or learn more, contact Ellie Stratton-Brook at 307-733-4707 firstname.lastname@example.org.
